Last week’s recipe looked ahead, at fall, but this week’s looks back at summer — and with the recent high-90s temperatures, summer is not so long gone. This is an easy yet delicious drink that can be made ahead of a party. If you’re looking to make it more adult, vodka makes an excellent addition.
1 cup cold water
4 cups cold, ripe watermelon chunks, seedless
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
Pinch of salt
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
Place the water, watermelon, lime juice, salt, and sugar in a blender and puree the fruit well, roughly 30 seconds. Taste the agua and correct the seasoning with additional lime juice or sugar if desired, pour into a pitcher, and chill for at least 1 hour. Just before serving, stir the agua to blend, pour into a chilled glass or glasses, and serve at once.
